Cloud hosting: private clouds for businesses that value their data
We deploy private clouds with Nextcloud and other open source tools so your business can sync files, calendars, and documents securely, without depending on massive public clouds.
Cloud hosting vs public clouds
When we talk about "cloud hosting," many people automatically think of Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Those are public clouds: convenient, yes, but with a hidden cost. Your files, your calendars, your company's documents are on servers you don't control, in jurisdictions where privacy laws can be lax, and under terms of service that can change overnight.
Our cloud hosting is different: it's a private cloud running on our servers, in Uruguay, under your domain, with access controlled by you. Your data isn't mixed with that of millions of users; no algorithms are scanning your documents to sell you ads; and if tomorrow you decide to migrate to another provider, you take your data without depending on limited export tools. The cloud is yours, not a Silicon Valley corporation's.
Nextcloud: your private cloud
Nextcloud is the leading open-source platform for private clouds. It's what governments, universities, and businesses that need full control over their data use. And it's what we install and manage for our clients. With Nextcloud you get:
- File sync — like Dropbox, but on your own server. Clients for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. Files always available, even offline. Share folders with clients, vendors, or your team with granular permissions: read-only, edit, expiration date, access password.
- Document collaboration — with Nextcloud Office (based on LibreOffice) or OnlyOffice integration, you can edit text documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in real time with your team, directly from the browser. No Microsoft 365, no Google Workspace, no per-user subscription fees.
- Calendars, contacts, and tasks — syncable via CalDAV and CardDAV. Works with Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Calendar, and any client that supports open standards. Never again a "I sent you the invite and you didn't get it" due to Google and Microsoft sync issues.
- Video calls and chat — Nextcloud Talk gives you instant messaging, voice calls, and encrypted video conferencing, all within your private cloud. No Zoom, no Meet, no meetings routed through third-party servers.
Real-world use case: accounting firms
One of the use cases we implement most is accounting firms. They handle sensitive information for dozens of companies: tax returns, balance sheets, financial statements, tax documentation. Sending that via WhatsApp or keeping it in a shared Google Drive folder isn't just unprofessional: it's a legal risk.
With our private cloud, each of the firm's clients has a segregated folder with exclusive access for assigned accountants. Files sync automatically between the office, the accountant's laptop, and their phone. If an employee leaves the firm, their access is revoked in seconds. If the tax authority requests documentation from 3 years ago, it's indexed and found instantly. All under Uruguayan data protection regulations, without depending on overseas servers.
Data sovereignty
Data sovereignty isn't an abstract concept: it's where your files physically are and under which laws they're governed. When your data is on Uruguayan servers, it's protected by Law 18.331 on Personal Data Protection and its regulatory decree. When it's on Google or Microsoft servers, it's subject to the USA PATRIOT Act, the CLOUD Act, and the terms of service you accepted without reading.
This matters especially for law firms, accounting firms, notary offices, healthcare mutuals, and any organization that handles sensitive data of Uruguayan citizens. A private cloud in Uruguay isn't just a technical decision: it's a compliance and professional responsibility decision.
Included tools
Our private cloud isn't limited to Nextcloud. We leverage having our own server to include tools that simply don't exist on public clouds:
- Password manager — Passbolt or Vaultwarden, so the entire team manages secure passwords without sharing them over WhatsApp or having them written on a sticky note attached to the monitor.
- DNS-level ad and tracker blocking — Pi-hole on your private network, so the entire office's browsing is free of invasive ads and trackers.
- Photo cloud — Nextcloud Memories or Immich, so company photos (events, products, projects, before and after) are organized, AI-indexed, and accessible to the entire team without filling up everyone's phones.
- Automated backups — because having everything on a private cloud is great, but having backups in a physically separate location is even better. We take care of both.
